The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference was successfully concluded on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Amphitheater of the Department of Nursing, located at the Gaiopolis Campus in Larissa. The event was also streamed live online via Microsoft Teams.
The event was collaboratively organized by the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Thessaly, the Department of Nursing, and One Planet Thessaly, with the goal of fostering creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the academic community.
The conference commenced with welcoming addresses delivered by:
- Professor Chrysi Laspidou, Vice-Rector for Innovation, Internationalization, Collaborations, and Digital Governance, as well as the head of One Planet Thessaly, who delivered her address at the event remotely through Microsoft Teams,
- Professor Vasileios Gerogiannis, President of the Department of Digital Systems,
- and Professor Ioanna Papathanasiou, President of the Department of Nursing.
At the conclusion of the conference, Vice-Rector Professor Konstantinos Anagnostopoulos delivered a brief address in which he commended the students for their innovative ideas. He emphasized the significance of fostering meaningful connections among the academic community, the labor market, and societal needs.
Presentation of Innovative Ideas
During the event, student teams from various departments of the University of Thessaly presented original and innovative business proposals, showcasing the skills, creativity, and collaborative efforts of the participants.
The presentations encompassed:
- COLLABREW: A platform that addresses the demand for collaborative workspaces (co-working spaces).
- StayAlive: An Application for Remote Medical Monitoring.
- Curio: An interactive educational experience through gamification.
- Nutricure: Personalized nutrition based on genetic data.
- SPEAKFLOW VR: Utilizing virtual reality and artificial intelligence technologies to mitigate glossophobia.
The teams were evaluated by a scientific committee comprised of distinguished academics, and an award ceremony was held at the conclusion of the conference, featuring participation from a panel of representatives from institutional organizations of Thessaly.
The team winning team was “COLLABREW“, impressing the judges with their business proposal.
One Planet Thessaly will persist in its support for initiatives that foster green innovation, promote youth entrepreneurship, and bridge academic knowledge with societal needs.
