World Intellectual Property Day – April 26
One Planet Thessaly commemorates World Intellectual Property Day!
World Intellectual Property Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the significance of human creativity and innovation—two pivotal forces that can guide us toward a more sustainable future.
🔹 Intellectual Property encompasses both
- industrial property, which includes patents and the rights of inventors over their creations, and
- intellectual property, which pertains to the rights of artists regarding their works.
World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every year on April 26, commemorating the establishment of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 1970, an entity dedicated to the international protection of these rights.
🎯 The primary objective of this day is to educate the public about the role of intellectual property in daily life and to acknowledge the contributions of inventors and artists to societal advancement globally.
🌱 One Planet Thessaly approaches intellectual property as a vital instrument for:
- fostering innovation,
- promoting sustainability,
- and ensuring justice and transparency.
📌 This is aligned with several key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
- SDG 4 – Quality Education
- SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
- SDG 13 – Climate Action
- SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
